SOUTH PORTLAND - Dorothy Mae Landry, 86, of South Portland, died April 29, 2011 at Maine Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born in Portland October 30, 1924, the daughter of Edmund and Jennie Pellerin LaVangie. Dorothy was educated in local schools and attended Cathedral High School. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. Dorothy worked for King Middle School in the school cafeteria for 20 years and retired as food service manager from the City of Portland in1985. She was past president of the Sacred Heart School PTA, past president of Landry's Circle tenant council, planned and supervised the Landry Circle bingo games, worked for the Foster Grandparent Program for 10 years, and was a member of Nunsuch Senior Citizens of Scarborough. Dorothy is predeceased by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Adelbert J. Landry who died December of 1993; a son, James E. Landry; twin brother, Donald A. LaVangie; four brothers, John, Simon, George, and Joseph LaVangie; and a sister, Mary LaVangie.She is survived by: two sons, Joseph A. Landry and wife Cora of Norwich, CT and Mark A. Landry of Hollis; daughter in law and best friend, Diane Landry of Portland, eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; and several in laws, nieces, and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to prayers which will be recited 10:15 am, Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland, followed by an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church, 611 Main Street, South Portland. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
