She and her daughter Donna made many trips to ancestors' gravesites in Shapleigh, where she could see where Revolutionary War and Civil War ancestors were buried. Dorothy also enjoyed exchanging recipes and knitting and craft ideas. She always had an open door for friends, neighbors, and family. Dorothy's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were no doubt her greatest accomplishments and gave her much pleasure. She was very proud that she lived to see eleven great-grandchildren. She also maintained relationships with her nieces and nephews and had many long time friendships in Sanford.
