Dorothy T. Cardone

September 30, 1927 ~ April 17, 2017
PORTLAND - Dorothy T. Cardone, 89, of Tyng Street, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 at Mercy Hospital.
Born in Portland, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Angelo and Margaret (Conohan) Cardone. She was employed for 55 years with a local linen service, retiring in the late 1990's. She was a communicant of the former Saint Dominic's Parish. Throughout her life, Dorothy enjoyed the simple pleasures. She enjoyed Sunday drives, spending time at Willard Beach or working. Above all else, Dorothy had a deep devotion to her nieces and nephews. She loved spending time with them, especially spoiling them with ice cream on Sundays as they were growing up.
She had a feisty and strong willed personality and was deeply loved and respected by her entire family for her generous and caring support.
She is survived by sisters, Margaret McFarland and husband Peter of Cape Elizabeth, Madeline Shaw and husband William of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, and brothers, Robert Cardona and wife Delores of Wilsall, Montana, and Paul Cardone of Portland, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers William, Vincent, Lawrence and a sister Lorraine all of Portland.
Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, April 21 from 9:15AM-10:15AM at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland followed by an 11AM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Road, South Portland. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland.
Please accept my sincere condolences to the Cardone family. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dorothy. The Bible assures us at Psalms 34:18 that God is near to those broken in heart. May your many great memories help you find peace and comfort as you go through the coming days. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
