Dorothy E. Bernier

Dorothy E. Bernier, 74, of Acton, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Sanford on September 23, 1940 a daughter of the late Albert and Beulah (Smith) Day. Following graduation from Sanford High School she attended Nasson College in Springvale. On May 30, 1959 she married John H. Bernier. Mrs. Bernier was an accomplished artist working with oil and water colors. A member of the Sanford Art Association, she also served on committees and as an officer in organizing class reunions. Along with her husband they travelled extensively visiting many parts of our nation one of the highlights being Alaska.She was extremely devoted to her family and cherished and enjoyed those moments particularly at the lake when they were all gathered together.The family would like to thank in a special way, Dr. Abraham, Dr. Ilyas, Melanie, Robin, Chris and Kim from the Cancer Center. Southern Maine Hospice, nurse Mike and Allison , CNA Jenn, Social Worker Rachel and all the CNA's and Nurses who cared for her at home as well as Rev. Larry Greer.She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John H. Bernier of Acton, daughters, Christine D.E. Bernier of Sanford, Lisa M. Bernier of Sanford, grandchildren, Kimberly M. Palmer, Stephanie D.
