Donna A. Seebirt

Donna Ann Seebirt, 70, of Ojai, California and Sanford, Maine died on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. Donna was born in Sanford, Maine on August 22, 1939 to Roland and Geraldine (Dunham) Porell and attended Sanford schools, graduating from Sanford High School in 1957. In 1962, she married James E. Seebirt and together the couple raised two daughters. Donna and her husband moved frequently due to James' career in the military before settling in Ojai, CA in 1983. In 2000, she and her husband purchased a home on Mousam Lake and have enjoyed splitting time between the lake and California. Donna worked for 16 years at Tottenham Court Tea Room and Gift Shop in Ojai. She was a member of the Ojai Presbyterian Church, the Mariners Club and volunteered at Help of Ojai, Second Helpings Thrift Store. She also did a lot of volunteer work in the community. Donna enjoyed cooking, gardening, decorating and had an extensive recipe collection. She had a keen artistic sense that she demonstrated with needlepoint and doing holiday and interior decorating. She will be remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Surviving family members are her husband, James Eli Seebirt, and their two daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Melgoza, married to Auero Melgoza, and Rebecca Jane Seebirt-Bennett, married to Thomas Edwin Bennett III and four grandchildren, Alexander James Melgoza, Aliyah Ann-Marie Melgoza, Thomas Edwin Bennett IV and Anna Elizabeth Bennett. A celebration of Donna's life will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, September 26th at the Ojai Presbyterian Church in Ojai, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Help of Ojai, Second Helpings, 111 W. Santa Ana Street, Ojai, CA 93023 or Ojai Presbyterian Church, 304 North Foothill Road, Ojai, CA 93023.
