Donald "Don" Williams, 100, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2017, with his family by his side. He was born in Schenectady, New York, on December 19, 1916, to Fred and Katherine (Mitchell) Williams and attended Mount Pleasant High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in Guam. After the war, he graduated from Albany Business College before going to work for General Electric Co. He worked at GE for 38 years as a cost analyst. He married Doris Houck in 1946 and together they raised their daughter, Lori, and son, Dave. Before Doris' death, they enjoyed spending time at their camp on Loon Lake in the Adirondacks and traveling extensively throughout the U.S. In 1988, he married Helen (Mauriello) DiSarro. They enjoyed dancing and socializing at the Schenectady Senior Center before moving to Kennebunk.After Helen passed away, he moved to Lebanon to live with his daughter. Always proud of his service to his country, he joined the American Legion Post 214, Lebanon, Maine.Don is survived by his daughter, Lori McCullough of Lebanon, ME; his son, Dave and wife Laura, of Wilton, NY; his grandchildren, Karin Tierney and boyfriend, Greg Beshore of South Duxbury, VT, Heather Tierney and husband Ben Madore of Malden, MA, Adam Williams and girlfriend Rachael Phipps of Colchester, VT and Amy Williams and boyfriend Ryan Hughes of Ossining, NY; his brother, George Williams and wife Elizabeth, of Schenectady, NY; his niece, Katie Williams and boyfriend Karl Heinz Schwartz of The Netherlands; his loving companion, Florence Hansen, as well as many other family and friends.The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. John McGuckin and his nurse, Cindy, for their kindness and care over the past year. A very sincere thank you to Hospice of Southern Maine, Julia, Wendy, Lisa, Tina, Stacia, and especially his nurse, Mike, for their compassion and for expediently managing his needs. A celebration of his 100 years will be held at North Parish Congregational Church, Sanford, on Saturday, March 11th at 11:00 AM. A private interment will be held at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Springvale, Maine at a different time.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don's memory to Hospice of Southern Maine, 180 US Route 1, Scarborough, ME 04074-9925.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
