Donald E. Spear

Portland-Donald E. Spear, 53, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 following several years of declining health. Donald was born in Portland, Maine on April 16, 1965 the son of Donald E. Spear Jr. and Shirley Friend. He worked most of his life around horses, doing grooming and caring for the race horses. He worked at tracks in Florida, Massachusetts and Maine. He loved the time he spent working with the animals and the many friends he made at the tracks where he worked. In his spare time he loved searching You Tube videos and watching movies. Donald was also very proud of his 3 1/2 years of sobriety while attending AA. He will be remembered as good hearted animal lover who always had good intentions. Donald was predeceased by his father, Donald E. Spear Jr. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Friend of Portland; a sister, Irene Burnell of Portland; four aunts, two uncles, and numerous cousins.
