Dolores A Andrews
October 31, 1938 ~ May 9, 2018
Standish - Dolores A. Andrews, 79, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the Barron Center in Portland.
Born on October 31, 1938, Dolores was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Kerrigan) Green. At a young age, Dolores lost both of her parents and was raised by her aunt, Margaret Kerrigan, as well as her large extended Irish Family.
She attended Cathedral Grammar School and graduated from Portland High School, Class of 1956. In 1968, she married Roger Andrews. Dolores and Roger moved to Standish in 1974 where they raised their family.
Over the years of her working life, Dolores was employed with area hotels and nursing homes and tasked with the responsibility of ensuring rooms were clean, presentable and ready for the guests or residents. She did this work for several years, spending the majority of her time at the Sheraton Hotel. She retired in 2002 and spent the next several years spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Dolores was a strong willed, one of a kind person who was incredibly proud of her Irish Heritage. However, the light of her life was her grandchildren. She would spoil them, often giving them several liberties she didn't give her own children. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, Dolores was predeceased by her son, Ronald Vezina and son-in-law, Bruce Lucier.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Roger Andrews, Sr. of Standish; sons, Philip Vezina and wife Jennifer of South Portland, Richard Vezina of South Portland, Roger Andrews, Jr. and wife Michelle of Auburn; daughter, Margaret Lucier of Standish; daughter-in-law, Kathy Sinclair Vezina. She was Grammy to her adored grandchildren, Kaylie Vezina, Ronald Vezina and wife Erica, Jamie Vezina, Brittany Vezina, Jason Chadbourne, Ryan Andrews, Justin Andrews, Melisha Lucier and Christopher Lucier and wife Nicole; great-grandchildren, Georgia Chadbourne, Tyler Lucier, Bruce Lucier, Mason Bragdon, Emily Vezina and Rylee Vezina.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Barron Center for providing Dolores with compassionate care.
Visiting Hours celebrating Dolores' life will be held on Saturday, May 12 from 9-10AM at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland followed by a funeral service at 10AM. Burial will be held at Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland.
