Resided in: Kennebunk, Maine

Diane Dolan, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December, 7, 2022 following a long battle with Dementia and congestive heart failure. Diane was born on September 22, 1935 to Barbara (Mcrellis) Allen, and attended North Berwick Schools. She married Keith Dolan on August 6, 1960, and together they raised their two children, Gary and Lynne, in Springvale. They were married for 49 years before Keith’s passing in 2009. She was always very proud of her children and what they had accomplished in life. They were always her number one priority and her pride and joy. Diane enjoyed many years working in the cafeteria at Sanford High School. She made many friends in the Sanford school system over the years, and she was loved by many. Her children would never be able to get away with “playing hooky,” because inevitably she would find out! However, her children may have been given an extra scoop of this or that on occasion. After many wonderful years living in Springvale, Diane and Keith decided to sell the family home in 2003. They moved to Wells, where Diane’s family owned a cottage on Wells Beach. They winterized their side of the duplex, while her mother and her great aunt lived on the other side in the summer, which was always such a great joy to have the family so close. Diane has always loved Wells beach and would always welcome family and friends to come visit. They would spend countless hours on the beach and at the cottage. All who visited spent hours sitting in the sand, walking the beach, playing games. Back in the day, the family spent every Fourth of July watching the fireworks on the beach. Tennis was another one of Diane’s favorite pastimes. She loved watching it, she loved playing it. The television would always be tuned in to Wimbledon, the US Open, or any of the other Grand Slam events. Diane and Keith occasionally attend Volvo International tournaments in North Conway, New Hampshire. They also enjoyed watching football together and were die-hard Patriots fans. Diane also volunteered for the American Heart Association in her earlier years. Diane is predeceased by her husband, Keith; her mother Barbara and her aunt Pauline; her sister, Jan Woodman; her brother, Johnny Allen; her sister-in-law, Eileen Metcalf and her husband Ron. She is survived by her son, Gary Dolan and his wife Nancy; her daughter, Lynne Dolan; her “second daughter,” Bobbi St. Jean; her brother, Bill Allen and his wife Donna; and many special nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Kennebunk Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation for the endless love and support they provided to Diane and her family. At Diane’s request, no funeral services will be held. For those wishing to give a contribution, please consider the Kennebunk Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation Activities Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
