August 11, 1953 ~ November 10, 2018

Windham-Deborah "Debbie" Ann (Hefler) Laird, 65, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston surrounded by her loving family. Debbie came into this world on August 11, 1953 to be the joy and delight of the late William and Mary Blodgett Hefler and loveable little sister to Bill and Sue. She grew up on Munjoy Hill and Eastend Beach. Debbie attended Jack Elementary School and graduated from Portland High School class of 1971. Following graduation she attended the University of South Maine where she received her Bachelor's degree. On May 22, 1976 she married a sailor from away and by way of her love, Kenneth Laird became part of her family. Debbie and Kenn were not globe trotters and would spend most of their vacations visiting Kenn's family in Pennsylvania. Three of their 42 anniversaries were spent at Disney World. Deb took pride that in the 40 years she worked as a Clerk or Receptionist in the Insurance industry she never used a sick day until she had her knee replaced in 2012. She began her retirement in May of 2018. Deb looked forward to spending time with her family, friends, cats and her beloved husband. Survivors include her beloved husband of 42 years Kenneth "Kenn" W. Laird of Windham; brother William R. Hefler of Florida and her sisters from the Hill Maureen, Margo and Ina. Debbie is also survived by several nieces, nephews and her five cats. She is predeceased by her parents and sister Susan Hefler Brady. Visiting hours celebrating Debbie's life will be held from 2-6 P.M. on Sunday, November 18, at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 19, 10 A.M. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress Street, Portland.
