David C. Lewis
David C. Lewis, 93, of Springvale, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born in Rogers, Arkansas on March 14, 1919, a son of the late Robert and Belle (Robinson) Lewis.Mr. Lewis served in the US Coast Guard during WWII and was stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.A 69 year member of the Pleasant Street Free Baptist Church, he served the church in the capacity of Deacon and Trustee Emeritus.He enjoyed woodworking, furniture restoration and building stain glass pieces, as well as home repairs, construction and gardening.He is predeceased by sons, Gordon Lewis and John Lewis, sisters, Edith and Dena, and brother, John.He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Florence nee (Lister) Lewis of Springvale, children, Gloria Schwarz, Marilyn Quartararo, Lisa McHugh, grandchildren, John-David, Jennifer, and Stephanie Quartararo, Adam and Kelli Lewis, Warren, David, Paul, Tanya, and Jack Schwarz, and Angela, Sierra, Michael, Ashley, and Josh McHugh. He is also survived by his brothers, Phillip and Paul, a sister, Goldie, and five great grandchildren.Visiting hours will be on Friday from 6 to 8PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11AM at the Pleasant Street Free Baptist Church.
