David J. Eckmann, 71, of Sanford, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015. David was born and raised in Beverly, Mass. before moving to Maine where his happiest times were.David had such zest for life. He was an avid hunter since childhood and was his happiest out in the woods with his hunting buddies and his treasured rifles. He loved to fish and spent time with the children in his life teaching the sport. David was a man of simple means and enjoyed hosting cookouts at his home surrounded by his family. Uncle David was always there with his four wheeler or motorcycle giving the kids rides or pulling quarters out of their ears. He drove trucks all his life for various companies including local Genest Concrete and Pepin. Sadly, when he took ill, he had to give up his love of driving. David will always be remembered as living life on his own terms. He had experiences many of us will never have. He was a compassionate and loving man who would help anyone in need. He will sorely be missed by family and friends. David was predeceased by his parents, William and Bette (Hills) Novack, and a sister Judith (Eckmann) Bright. He leaves his brother, Gary Eckmann of Bangor, Maine, his sisters Gail St. Charles and husband Richard of Wells, Kim Kimball and husband Glenn of North Berwick.
