Portland-Daniel Paul Spanton (Dan) died suddenly on October 3, 2022 after a brief illness. He was a long time resident of Portland, Maine.
Dan was born on December 17, 1954 in Lockport, New York. He graduated from Wilson Central High School as salutatorian of his class and was the playwright of his senior class play. He then spent several years primarily in Bogota, and Cartagena, Columbia as an English teacher. He was also a published author. Prior to moving to Portland, Dan lived and worked in Seattle, Washington for several years. He lived a simple life and loved being near an ocean.
Dan was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Vernelia Spanton. He is survived by six siblings: John Spanton, Marilyn Allen, Jean Estes, David Spanton, Kathleen Jackson and Steve Spanton.
