Daniel Edward Conley

November 21, 1964 ~ May 6, 2025

Born in: The West End
Resided in: The West End

Daniel Edward Conley, 60, of Portland, passed away at his residence due to complications associated with diabetes on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025.

He was born in Portland on November 21, 1964, the son of Gerard Paul and Ann Nora (Duff) Conley. He attended St. Dominic’s Grammar School (prior to its closure), Cathedral Grammar School, a brief encounter with the Jesuits at Cheverus High School, and lifelong attendance at the School of Hard Knocks.

If there was ever a person who marched to the beat of a different drummer, Danny was that person. Degrees, titles, and wealth, all meant nothing to him. Whether he was working as a painter, landscaper, or laborer, he lived his entire life in the moment. He appreciated a good newspaper, a strong sense of humor, a fast bike, a Red Sox victory, “Tangled Up in Blue”, and all dogs. He reveled in his Irish heritage, his West End roots, and his knowledge of rock and roll trivia.  Most importantly, Danny loved his family, especially his late brother, David, and his family loved him.

Danny was pre-deceased by his parents, two brothers, John and David, and a sister, Mary Catherine. He is survived by his sisters, Jean M. Greenwood and her husband, Richard of Portland, and Ann Nora Murphy, as well as his brothers, Gerard P. and his wife Mary of Portland, Richard P. and his wife Kathy of the Bronx, New York, Thomas M. and his wife Jayne of South Portland, Peter H., Patrick G., Kevin D., and Donald J, all of Portland, and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at St. Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Avenue, Portland. Interment will follow at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home of Portland. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Danny’s honor to the Maine Irish Heritage Center

  5. Danny was a one of a kind, had a sense of humor like no other. He loved and missed his mother so much, I hope she’s hugging him now. He was a very smart man, more than most knew. He got me into Bob Dylan and cribbage and I still love both today. I still say he was the most handsome out of the bunch sorry brothers. I am so saddened to hear this. All my love, Barbie Dow. RIP DANNY
