Daniel G. Condon
Daniel George Condon, 70, of Sanford, died at his home on Tuesday, July 15, 2014.Dan was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on November 24, 1943 to Robert and Helen (Willis) Condon. He grew in Saugus up and attended local schools, graduating from Saugus High School in 1961. Following high school he attended Haverhill Trade School for printing, graduating in 1964. Later in 1964 he married Judith Beaton and together they raised two children and shared nearly 50 years of marriage. After graduating from trade school he served in the National Guard for two years until he went to work for General Electric in 1966. He was employed at General Electric for 35 years until retiring in 2001. After retiring, Dan and Judie moved to Maine in 2003.Dan enjoyed antique cars and had been a member of an antique car enthusiast club. He was also a member of the Sanford-Springvale Historical Society, had been a member of the East Saugus Methodist Church and was active in community politics. He was passionate about German Shepherds and considered himself a "dogologist." He had an extensive collection of silent movies featuring German Shepherds and had donated one that was particularly rare to be archived at the Smithsonian Institute. Dan was a very witty man with a unique sense of humor. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Dan was predeceased by his parents, a son, Robert James Condon and by a sister, Savior Tozier.Surviving are his wife, Judie Condon of Sanford, a son, Derek Condon and his wife Karen of Middleton, Massachusetts; his brother-in-law Pater James Vrees and his wife Patricia of Danville, New Hampshire and his sister-in-law, Christine Zoe Vrees of Middleton, Massachusetts.A private graveside service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery in Middleton, Massachusetts at a later date.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
