Craig J. Turgeon
Craig John Turgeon, 24, of Springvale, passed away peacefully at his home in Springvale on Saturday, April 21, 2007. He was born on February 22, 1983, a son of the late John and Simonne (Dolbec) Turgeon.Craig graduated with honors from Sanford High School, Class of 2002. He attended the University of Maine in Farmington and the University of Southern Maine in Portland. Craig completed his Realtor training and became a sales associate for Gil Dionne Realty of Sanford, soon to be RE/MAX.Craig had courageously battled cancer for the past 20 years. Although he had endured a tremendous amount throughout his life, his spirit was always positive. He had a sarcastic sense of humor and loved to spend time with his many friends and his dog Buddy.As a child, Craig was heavily involved in Maine Handicapped Skiing Program and continued to pursue the sport with passion. Craig was always the happiest when he was on the mountain skiing. He also enjoyed four-wheeling and snowmobiling. Craig had recently been accepted as a member of the Sanford Elk's Lodge. In addition, he was a member of the Lodge's active Maine Children's Cancer Program Committee. Craig was committed to helping others and in fact had recently met with a group of students at Sanford High School to share his story and thank them for their penny drive, which raised money for teenagers treated at Maine Children's Cancer Program.Craig is predeceased by his parents, John and Simonne Turgeon. He is survived by his two sisters, Amy (Turgeon) Sevigny, her husband, Nate and their son, Jack of Springvale and Beth Turgeon Michalak and her husband, Geoff of Waterboro. He is also survived by an uncle, Steve Turgeon and his wife, Nancy Turgeon, a cousin, Kathleen Turgeon, grandmother, Connie Turgeon Junkins, aunt and uncle, Claire and Joe Healey of New Jersey and aunt Jeannine Dolbec of Sanford.Visiting hours for Craig and his father John will be held on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at St. Therse of Liseux Parish-St. Ignatius Catholic Church, St. Ignatius Street in Sanford, where a Mass of Christian Burial for them both will be celebrated on Monday at 11am. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
