Constance S. Butler
Constance "Connie" Sarah Butler, 78, of Sanford, passed away at home on Saturday, November 18, 2006 with her family by her side.Connie was born in Sanford on August 30, 1928 to Norman and Beatrice Goodwin Normandeau, Sr. She held several different jobs throughout her life including working for the Portland Maine Fisheries, Nike Shoes, working with her husband chicken farming and most importantly, being an excellent mother and housewife. Mrs. Butler was an active member of the Lebanon-North Berwick Baptist Church. She participated by singing in the choir as well as teaching Sunday School. She had a deep appreciation for music and loved to sing and dance. As a teenager, she and her best friend, Hazel Stetson, would practice the latest dances together. Her very favorite was dancing to "The Waltz You Saved for Me." Connie's family was very important to her; she greatly enjoyed spending with them. She was a wonderful cook and took great pride in preparing meals for her family. She had an excellent sense of humor and was known by many as a joker. She loved taking trips and particularly enjoyed going up to Moosehead Lake. She enjoyed antique shopping, going to flea markets, planting flowers, exploring and going out to eat with family and friends. She approached everything she did with great enthusiasm and got a lot of enjoyment out of life. Connie was a very fascinating person to listen to, often telling stories about what things were like when she was a little girl. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. Connie was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Arolyn and Marie and two brothers, Norman, Jr. and Roger. Surviving are her loving husband of 45 years, Robert H. Butler of Sanford; eight children, Gary Ham and his wife Nancy of Sanford, Suzanne Ham Doyle and her husband Patrick of Acton, Candace Ham Real of Sanford, Keven Ham and his wife Darlene of Acton, Kimberly Ham LaPoint and her Husband Robert, Jr. of Alfred, Kerrie Butler White and her husband Brian of Shapleigh, Sherri Butler Andrews and her husband William of Sanford and Carlene Pajanen of Old Orchard Beach; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Louise Smith and her husband Richard, Joyce Pelletier and her husband Bill and Linda Dauteuil. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Lebanon-North Berwick Baptist Church, located on Little River Road in East Lebanon. Interment will take place at Forest Grove Cemetery in Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Kidney Foundation of Maine, P.O. Box 1134, Portland, Maine 04104.
