Constance Briggs

Constance A. Briggs, 77, of Alfred, died on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.Constance was born on February 24, 1938 to James and Arlene (Drowns) Briggs in Alfred where she grew up and attended local schools. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1956 and then enrolled in beauty culture school in Portland. After finishing her education she established her own beauty salon in Alfred which she owned and operated for 17 years. After developing an allergy to some of the products used in the salon she left her career in hair dressing and went to work at Cameo Greetings in Sanford where she was employed for 27 years before retiring five years ago.Constance was an outgoing and social woman with many friends. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman with a generous heart and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Surviving are her significant other of 60 years, George Verville of Alfred; three siblings, Paul R. Brigggs, Jacqueline Gerrish and Joyce Wagner, all of Alfred and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, March 4th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 5th at 2:00 PM.
