Claudette G. Merrill

Claudette G. Merrill, 69, of Sanford, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday September 30, 2006. She was born in Manchester, NH, on November 28, 1936, a daughter of Francois and Jeanne Guillemette. She attended local schools in Manchester.On January 19, 1957 she married Horace W. Merrill at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Berwick. Prior to her marriage she had worked in local Shoe Shops in the Dover area. After her marriage she devoted her time to raising the family. Claudette and Horace moved to the Sanford/Springvale area in 1972.She was known as "Memere" to the many children who knew her. She loved to knit put puts (slippers), hats and mittens for everyone. At one time she knitted ponchos for several children.She is predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Horace W. Merrill of Sanford, her children, Diane Dugre, Paul and Debbie Alexander, David Merrill, Merle Merrill, Michael Merrill, Robert Merrill and Michelle Merrill, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Conrad Guillemette and Richard Guillemette of Manchester, NH, one sister, Monique St. Germain of Manchester,NH.Visiting hours will be on Wednesday October 4 from 6-8pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Maine Street in Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by her nephew, Fr. Robert Guillemette on Thursday at 11am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Sanford. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the Visiting Nurse Service of Southern Maine, 15 Industrial Park Road, Saco, Maine 04072.Condolences may be expressed using the tab to the left.
