Clarence E. Hartley, Jr., "Peanut", 86, of Springvale, passed away on May 29, 2015 at the Newton Center in Sanford. He was born in Bridgeport, CT, on September 9, 1928 a son of the late Clarence Sr., and Helen (Wallace) Hartley. In 1946 he graduated from Sanford High School.Peanut owned and operated Hartley's Gulf in Sanford which he later relocated to Springvale and renamed his business Hartley's Sunoco. After over 40 years of operating the business he retired in 2003. He was a member of the Springvale Masonic Lodge, the Springvale Social Club as well as the Sanford Elk's Lodge.He loved the outdoors and loved to spend time with his wife, Ruth at their camp in Eustis where they would go four-wheeling, snowmobiling. An avid hunter he was pleased to have won the moose lottery three times.He is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Ruth (Moulton) Hartley who passed away in 2012. He is also predeceased by one grandson, Jason Hartley Lincourt who passed away in 1990 as well as one sister, Janice WallaceHe is survived by his children, Lynne Lincourt and her husband, Joseph of Springvale, Stephen L. Hartley and his wife, Arline of Springvale, Holly S. Hartley of Springvale, William "Bill" Hartley and partner, Crystal Tapscott of Sanford, Marylu Williams and her husband, Jack of Wingdale, NY, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Joanna Duncan, her husband Derek and their children Marissa and Mitchell, Heather Fletcher, her husband, Eric and their daughters Emily and Rachel, Melissa Hartley and her partner Paul Dubois, Steffan Morin and his partner Stanley Ellicott, Brian S. Morin and Zachary Hartley. He is also survived by one brother, George Hartley of Florida.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4 to 6PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A memorial service will be conducted on Friday at 1PM at the funeral home with an hour of visitation beginning at 12noon.
