Clara Gauvreau

Clara Cantin Gauvreau, 97, of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday Februay 19, 2014 at the Newton Center in Sanford. She was born in Black Lake, P.Q., Canada on February 20, 1916 a daughter of the late Josephat and Mary (Byrns) Cantin.She attended local schools and was employed for many years as a fancy stitcher in the local shoe shops.A very giving woman she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Family was important to her as well as her time spent at the lake.She is predeceased by her husband, Gerard J. Gauvreau, an infant daughter, granddaughters, Tracy Lyn Lapierre, Breanna Gauvreau, brothers, Albert Cantin, Bernard Cantin, Paul Cantin.She is survived by her children, Stella Byrns and her husband Elwin of Thetford Mines, P.Q., Canada, Donald Gauvreau and his wife, Bonita of Zephyrhills, FL, Marie Ann Hamel and her husband, Richard of Sanford, Janet Dunn and her husband, William of Sanford, Patrick Gauvreau and his wife, Kathleen of Shapleigh.10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren as well as many other close family members who visited her on a regular basis.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday February 28, 2014 at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
