Cecile T. Morissette

Cecile T. Morissette, 97, of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the Goodall Hospital. She was born in St. Francois Xavier de Brompton, P.Q., Canada on March 21, 1914 a daughter of the late Napoleon and Victoria (Godbout) Therrien.She was raised in Springvale. After graduating from Sanford High School in 1934 Cecile returned to Canada where she married and had three daughters. In 1945, she returned to Sanford where she was employed chiefly at the former Goodall Mills and other local shoe shops. Mrs. Morissette worked until she was into her seventies.Cecile's faith was important to her, she was long time communicant of the former St. Ignatius Parish. She enjoyed driving to Wells Beach, outings with her best friend, Ethel Cookson as well as taking courses at the Trafton Senior Center. Mostly, she enjoyed time with her family, especially attending the sporting events and activities of her grandchildren. She will be best remembered for being a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.Mrs. Morissette is predeceased by her brother, Louis Therrien and beloved grandson, Richard Dumont.She is survived by her daughters, Claudette Dumont and her husband, Robert of Dana Point, CA, Mary Taylor and her husband, Merle of Sanford, Diane Brackett and her husband, Rodney of Sanford, grandchildren, Melissa Chong and her husband, David, Michael Taylor and his wife, Debra, Melanie Coombs, John Kieffer and his wife, Candilynn, Ann Thayer and her husband Richard, Amy McEwen and her husband Shawn, Jonathan Brackett and his wife Elizabeth, great grandchildren, Charles, Madeline, Daphne, Jessie, Jason and Jordan., Margaret, Abigail, William, Sydney and Mason.Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4 to 7PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11AM at Notre Dame Cemetery in Springvale.Contributions may be made to the Mountain View Activities Fund, 164 Hanson Ridge Rd., Springvale, ME 04083.
