Cathy Vaccaro

Catherine L. (Cathy) Vaccaro, 57, a lifelong resident of Springvale and Sanford, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford. She was born in Sanford on October 6, 1952, a daughter of the late William J. and Verra E. (Mazza) Vaccaro.Cathy was a communicant of Notre Dame Church in Springvale. For the past 19 years she had been residing at a Waban Group Home in Sanford. With the help of a dedicated staff and her ability to quickly bond with the residents, especially Wanda, the group home became her extended family. Over the years she was involved with different programs with Waban including special Olympics and the workshops. A very special person she loved people and was close to her family. She enjoyed music, dancing, trips and camping. Her favorite movie was "The Wizard of OZ", She enjoyed collecting photos of family and friends and accumulated a large collection of Barbie dolls. She also enjoyed going to Dunkin Donuts and Aroma Joes.Cathy is predeceased by her parents and one brother, John Vaccaro.She is survived by her siblings, Elizabeth (Betty) Jellerson of Lebanon, Barbara Allen of Sanford, William J. Vaccaro Jr., and his wife, Phyllis of Lyman, Paul J. Vaccaro and his wife, Sheila of Poland, Thomas A. Vaccaro and his wife, Ann of Rochester, NH, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.Visiting hours for Cathy will be held on Wednesday March 31st from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
