Scarborough- Catherine A. Joys, 75, of Pumpkin Lane, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Gosnell Hospice House with her loving family by her side. She was born in Manhattan, New York on February 24, 1941 the daughter of the late James and Annabelle Maher. She attended local schools there and graduated from Delahanty High School in the class of 1958 . In December of 1959 she married Robert B. Joys in Manhattan, together they shared fifty two years of marriage. Catherine worked as a sales clerk for Sears Roebuck Company, retiring in 2004 after more than thirty years of service. Following her retirement, and moving to Florida, she was an active volunteer at the local hospitals there. In her spare time, she enjoyed entertaining family and friends, socializing, the time she and her husband spent in Florida, and dancing with Robert. Cathy was surrounded by an amazing group of friends and neighbors who supported her at her home in Florida. Her greatest love, however, was the time she spent surrounded by her family, her children of whom she was so proud, and most importantly her grandchildren, who she loved to the stars. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Robert B. Joys in 2011. She is survived by two daughters Christina Joys and her husband Claire Moreau of South Portland, and Jennifer and her husband David Roy of South Portland; two sons James Joys of Auburn, and Scott and Cheryl Joys of Scarborough; eight grandchildren, Robert and Michelle Moreau, Nicholas and Alexander Roy, Michael and Robert Joys, Matthew and Benjamin Joys and her great grandson Max Roy. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 22, at 1:00pm at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway. Burial will be private.
