Carolyn E. (Woodman) Palmer, 83, of Biddeford, formerly of Sanford and Acton, died on Friday, July, 3, 2015 at the Shaw House in Biddeford.Carolyn was born in New York City on April 30, 1932. She grew up in Sanford where she attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School in 1951. Following graduation she was employed at W.T. Grant's in Sanford where she worked for several years until she married Roger Palmer in 1954. Together they raised five children and shared 37 years of marriage until his death in 1991.Carolyn was devoted mother and dedicated her life to caring for her family. She had been a member of the North Parish Congregational Church and the Red Had Society. She also served on the reunion committee for the Sanford High School Class of 1951. She enjoyed attending family gatherings and parties, crocheting, playing cribbage and considered herself a champion Scrabble player. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Carolyn was predeceased by a daughter, Mary A. Palmer and by her parents, Charles and Grace (Hanscom) Woodman.Surviving are four children, Susan A. Leach and her husband Samuel of Arundel, Nancy E. Lauridsen and her husband Laurid of White Water, Colorado, Betty J. Cormier and her husband Robert of Kittery and Robert C. Palmer of Sanford; nine grandchildren, David, Amanda, Judi, Krysten, Tanya, Rob, Andy, Crystal and Evan; four great-grandchildren, Sydney, Grace, Kooper and Rylee and two more on the way; two sisters-in-law, Roberta Williams of Sanford and Dolores Palmer of Waterboro; a cousin, Linda Hanscom of North Waterboro and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 7th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 8th.
