Carolyn J. Lane

Carolyn J. Lane, 82, of Alfred, died on Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.Carolyn was born in New Kensington, PA on June 5, 1928 to David and Mabel (Endean) Simmons. When she was a child her family moved to Bridgeport, CT where she grew up and attended local schools. In the Early 1950's she married Walter Lane who was stationed with the U.S. Army in Fort Knox, Kentucky. After Walter completed his enlistment the couple moved to Trumbull, CT where they lived for many years before moving to Maine 22 years ago.Carolyn enjoyed collecting micro minerals and going metal detecting with her husband. She was also an animal lover and was actively involved with the Golden Retriever rescue, fostering several dogs over the years. She was a quiet woman who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother and will be dearly missed.Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Walter Lane.Surviving are her daughter, Melanie Crane and her husband Robert of Biddeford; her companion, Hannah Lane; her sister, Betty Moore of Bridgeport, CT and her niece, Patricia Moore of Philadelphia, PA.Interment will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred.
