Carol Field Swartzendruber, 77, died Friday, June 28, 2019 at Dover Rehabilitation Center, Dover, NH. She was born August 29,1941 in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Marion and Olive Montooth Field. She spent her childhood in Elmira, IL attending elementary school and riding her bicycle countless miles in the early morning hours. She graduated from Toulon Township High School in 1959. Carol attended Moline Public School of Nursing, Moline, IL and graduated with an R.N. Degree in 1972.Carol and Dick Swartzendruber were married October 19,1962 in the Elmira Presbyterian Church. They settled in Davenport, IA where Carol began her nursing career. She worked as an ER nurse in Moline and later as a doctor's office nurse in Sioux City, IA. After a move to Ft. Dodge she did hospice work and helped develop and directed 60 Plus, a group at the hospital that provided services for folks 60 and over. Carol's husband of nearly 57 years died May 19th of this year. She is survived by a son, John Swartzendruber and his wife Kristin, 2 grandchildren-Jackson and Avery, Dover, NH, a sister Karen Campbell, her husband Bob of Hampton, NH and a brother Howard Field of Galva, IL.Memorial services will be held for Dick and Carol August 24, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the North Parish Congregational Church, 845 Main St. Sanford, ME 04073. Memorial gifts in Carol's name may be made to the Women's Fellowship at the North Parish Congregational Church.
