Carmen Louise B. Nadeau
March 13, 1932 to August 21, 2025
On August 21st, Mom received her Angel Wings. She will be sorely missed by all the people she has touched here on Earth.
Carmen was born on March 13, 1932 to Althea and Joe Barreras, Sr. in Springvale, ME.
She is survived by her sister Ruthie LeHoux, daughter Jo-Anne Burgess Masure, son Bobby Burgess, granddaughters Lisa, Rhonda, Missy, Sonia, Jen, grandsons Jason and Owen. She also is survived by great grandchildren.
Carmen was predeceased by her parents, her brother Joey, her daughter Diane Burgess Aschoff, the father of her children Bob Burgess, Sr., and her husband Ben Nadeau.
Mom had many Blessings besides her family and friends. One of these Blessings was seeing
Pope John Paul II when he held a public mass and rode the Popemobile along Biscayne Boulevard in Miami, FL. on Sept. 11, 1987
Her caring nature led her to the path of a career change. Mom pursued her studies to become a CNA and an Activities Director at Nursing Homes. Mom worked at what was Hillcrest Nursing Home in Sanford. When she moved to Florida, she worked at the Jupiter Medical Center Pavilion. She loved having this connection with residents in both the states of Maine and Florida. As an Activities Director, she was always creating new, fun things for all to participate in. The residents loved her as she loved and cared for them.
A Church Service will be held at St. Therese Lisieux in Sanford, ME. The date will be announced at a later time.
Mom has the honor of being interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. next to her husband Ben.
Special thanks to all the Staff at Pinnacle Sanford and Compassus Hospice. It was through your gentle caring that made Mom’s journey as peaceful as possible.
At Mom’s request, there will be no visiting hours or flowers. Please join us in her church service if you can. If you choose to donate in her name, please consider St. Therese Lisieux, Sanford Pinnacle, and Compassus Hospice.
She was a wonderful lady. Always ready to help anyone. She laughed a lot. You couldn’t help but love her. I never met anyone would didn’t adore her.
Carmen was the salt of the earth. May her memory be a blessing to all who loved her.
Nana’s love and faith touched every part of my life, and her spirit will continue to live on through her family. I will always cherish the memories we shared and the lessons she passed down to me. Her love, laughter, and guidance will never be forgotten.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Carmen and my mom Mary Dennett were very good friends for a long time, and I remember all of you as her children growing up. She was a wonderful person with a very kind heart. Praying that God will wrap you in His loving arms of comfort and give you His special peace at this time of sadness and loss
