C. Jeanne Streeter
November 2, 1912 ~ October 7, 2013
PORTLAND - C. Jeanne Streeter of Medford, MA and Portland, ME died on October 7th in Falmouth. She was born in Sharon, CT on November 2, 1912 and was raised by her grandparents. Her first job was at the telephone company at the age of 14, and she continued to work there after her graduation from Sharon High School. In 1943 Jeanne married her longtime sweetheart, Robert Winson, in Odessa Texas, where he was based at Midland. After he was discharged, they settled in Medford, MA. After Bob was killed in a tragic work accident in 1953, Jeanne was left to raise three young children on her own. When they were school age, she found employment in a local nursing home. Working with the elderly brought her great enjoyment, and she continued caring for them until she was in her 70's. At the age of 90 she moved from her home in Medford to an independent living apartment overlooking Casco Bay at 75 State Street to be closer to her son and his family. She spent ten happy years there. The family celebrated her 100th birthday in November at Falmouth by the Sea with her favorite meal: lobster rolls, chips, and a special cake. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband, Bob, her husband Howard Streeter, son Peter Winson, and grandson, Michael Williamson. She is survived by her son, Ron Winson and his wife, Andrea of Portland, daughter, Barbara Williamson, and her husband, Al Hemingway of Brooklyn, CT, and grandsons Rob Winson and his wife, Heather, Matt Winson, and Scott Williamson . She also leaves five great grandchildren, Max, Wyatt, and Jillian Winson, and Amanda and Ashley Williamson. The family would like to thank the great staff at 75 State Street for their care and concern, especially Tom, and her physician those ten years, Dr. Hemphill. The staff at Falmouth By the Sea will always be remembered for their kindness. No matter what position they held, they were ready with a smile and a wave for Jeanne. Thank you to the caring, dedicated staff on the 300 wing at Falmouth by the Sea who made Jeanne's last year a comfortable one. Paul, Cassandra, Nancy, Daniel, Jadranka, Christine, and Dr. Marino.
