Bruce L. Purdy

Bruce L. Purdy, 56, of Sanford, ME, let the hands of this world go for the hands of the next on February 26th, 2014. Bruce lost his long, courageous battle with diabetes. Bruce was born March 13, 1957 in Revere, Massachusetts, a son of the late Laurence and Phyllis Purdy.Bruce was educated in Peabody, MA, graduating from Peabody High School. In 1978 he married Lorraine Poulin. Sadly, Bruce was predeceased by his loving wife Lorraine.Bruce loyally served CVS Pharmacies and their customers for more than 25 years in numerous locations as shift manager. Those who knew Bruce knew of his passion and love for his family, friends, community service, muscle cars and rock and roll music.Bruce is survived by two sons; Eric Purdy, daughter-in-law Elizabeth and his wonderful grandson, Andrew, of Biddeford, and Brian Purdy of Sanford. Bruce is also survived by his fiancee, Juanita Carter and a new extended family of Perry, ME. Bruce leaves behind three brothers and three sisters. Brothers David, of South Carolina, Mark of Derry, N.H., and Dale of Bradford, MA. Bruce's sisters; Donna Phenes, of Florida, Lisa Dempsey of Groveland, MA, and Beth Neil of Lakeville, MA. Bruce had numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as loved nieces and nephews. Bruce was greatly admired and will be sadly missed.A funeral service for Bruce will take place on Tuesday at 12noon at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, ME. Visiting hours will begin at 10AM until the time of the funeral service.Burial will be in the spring at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomeS.COM
