November 26, 1945 ~ April 30, 2025

Resided in: North Yarmouth, Maine

Bruce Andrews, 79, of North Yarmouth, Maine, passed away at home on April 30, 2025.

Born in Marshfield, Massachusetts, on November 26, 1945, Bruce was the son of the late Carl F. Andrews and Ann M. Andrews. While his family moved often due to his father’s work, Bruce always considered Maine his home. He spent childhood summers at camp on Sebec Lake in Dover-Foxcroft and completed his bachelor’s degree at Husson College.

Bruce enjoyed playing football in his younger years, and later in life, he became an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting—especially deer, partridge with his bird dogs, and moose—as well as fly fishing for trout and salmon in Maine’s freshwater streams and lakes. His passion for the outdoors was matched by his enthusiasm for cars and boats; he had a particular fondness for his Corvette and Mercedes, and cruising the Maine coast in his sailboat or powerboat.

In the 1970s, Bruce owned a general store at Onawa Lake, Maine, where he also served as the local sheriff—a role that suited his strong-willed nature and firm sense of principle. These attributes also made him a respected Boy Scout leader for several years where he imparted his outdoor skills to youth. He built a hunting/fishing camp on Nicatous Lake in 1977 with the help of his brothers, which remains a treasured family retreat. He shared countless memories there with his daughter, Sam, developing and nurturing their father-daughter relationship. Fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and ice fishing are all treasured times the Andrews family holds in their hearts.

Bruce met the love of his life, Trudy, while working in data processing at Hathaway Shirt in Waterville. They married in Southwest Harbor, Maine, on October 6, 1984, and began their married life in Ghent, New York, before returning to Maine in the 1990s to raise their daughter in Standish and later North Yarmouth. Bruce also worked at GE Plastics in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and, after returning to Maine, at Unum before retiring to become a dedicated stay-at-home dad.

Bruce loved Maine and America, a true Patriot—one spoken word or quick glance at him and you knew he was a loyal Republican. In addition to his patriotic stance and outdoor passions, he also took pride in cooking hearty meals—especially meat and potatoes and fried chicken and his barbecue skills on the Weber were legendary.

Bruce was immensely proud of his daughter, Sam, and all her accomplishments, something he made sure to express even on his final day.

Bruce was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Carl Andrews, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Trudy Andrews of North Yarmouth; daughter, Sam Rollins and her husband Brian of Poland, ME; siblings, David Andrews and wife Cheryl of Prather, CA, Susanne “Sukie” James and husband Peter of Falmouth, ME, and Greg Andrews and wife Patty of Standish, ME; nieces, Jessica, Tara, Caitlin, and Liz; and nephew, Brett.

Bruce lived with conviction and heart, and it never went unnoticed that he was steadfast in his beliefs. His dogs, his camp, his family, and his values defined him—and he leaves behind a legacy of integrity and memories built in the woods and waters of Maine.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home of Portland.
