Bro. Emilian Dauphinais
Brother Emilian Dauphinais died at the age of 102 at LaPrairie, Quebec, Canada on October 2, 2006 after a relatively short period of ill health given his advanced age. He entered the juniorate of the Brothers of Christian Instruction at La Pointe-du-Lac, Quebec, Canada on March 3, 1917 and the novitiate of the Brothers at LaPrairie, Quebec, Canada on February 2, 1920. He made his perpetual profession on July 14, 1927 and spent 86 years in religious life.Brother Emilian had a long and varied career. He taught 42 years in the Brothers' Schools in the USA. He was one of the founders of St. Louis High School in Biddeford in 1929, and for nine years was Principal at both St. Francis de Sales School and St. Joseph School on Waterville. In addition he was truly a man of God. He taught the youth during a remarkable number of years, instilling in them the love of God and the love of neighbor. He was also a community man, a friend to all with whom he came in contact with, a brother to all.No doubt Jesus' words apply to him. 'Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in Heaven.'
