Brian James Harris, 50, of Sanford, died on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.Brian was born in Sherman, Texas on October 14, 1962 to Alvin James and Betty (McNally) Harris. When he was young his family moved frequently while his father served in the military. When his father completed his enlistment Brian's family settled in Wells where he grew up and attended local schools. In 1983 he married Teresa Winn and they would spend the next 29 years together and raise four children. Brian held several jobs over the course of his life including working for the North Berwick Water and Sewer District, as an alarm technician for Wright Fire Alarm and for Active Fire Alarm and he also worked as a mechanic. He was a very handy person and enjoyed working around his house. He was very generous with his time and skills and was always looking to help anybody who needed a hand. Brian was a very smart and ingenuitive person, able to figure out how just about anything worked. He enjoyed putting his mechanical skills to use working on motorcycles, 4-wheelers or anything with a motor, either for himself or for family and friends. Family was always very important to Brian. He always made it a point to spend time with his family and was particularly fond of being around his grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, kayaking and camping. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and was passionate about riding his Harley and collecting Harley memorabilia. Brian will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Brian was predeceased by a son, Justin James George Harris.Surviving are his wife Teresa Harris of Sanford; three children, Tonya Harris of Sanford, Briana Harris of Shapleigh and Ryan James Alvin Harris of Sanford; four grandchildren, Ellecia, Tyler, Hunter and Ethan; his parents, Alvin James "Jim" and Betty Harris of Bangor; five siblings, Scott James Harris, Lewana Dyer of Massachusetts, Crystal Racine and her husband Jean of North Berwick, Karen Harris-Gagne and her husband Peter of North Berwick and Alan James Harris and his wife Aimee of Springvale and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 2nd at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale.
