South Portland- Brendon P. Whitney, 41, of South Richland Street died unexpectedly on Friday, March 30, 2018 in South Portland.
Brendon was born in Portland, Maine on April 5, 1976, the son of Donald P. and Cindy L. (Brandt) Whitney. He graduated from Bonny Eagle High School in the class of 1994.
On October 4, 1997, Brendon married the love of his life, Jennifer L. Dube at St. Joseph's Church in Portland. Together they made their home and began their family in South Portland.
Brendon was most proud of his work in the music industry as a rapper and producer. He was a co-owner of an independent record label, Anticon Records, which was started in 1998. He was able to travel the world playing music and although he was terrible with names he never forgot a face. Brendon also worked in Corporate Governance at MSCI for the last ten years. When not playing music or working at MSCI, Brendon could be found doing wholesale delivery to area shops, cafes, and restaurants.
Although music was a big part of Brendon's life, his greatest accomplishment were his two daughters. His wife and two girls brought the most joy to his life, he loved his daily routine with them and the simple things in life. He was always interested in what others were doing and would always stand up for the underdog. Brendon's family described him as hilarious, passionate, insanely awesome, caring, selfless, generous and a kind person who was loved by everyone that knew him.
Brendon was predeceased by his grandparents, Donald and Lillian Whitney, Vernon and Wanda Brandt, LaVita Rodgers, and Madeline and Alcid Dube. He is survived by his wife of more than twenty years, Jennifer Whitney of South Portland; two daughters, Aiko and Inara Whitney of South Portland; his parents, Donald and Cindy Whitney of Hollis; a sister, Aubrey and her husband Theodore Cummings, and their children, Sophia and Quincey Cummings of Portland; a brother, Ehren Whitney and his companion, Sean Carroll of Portland; several other nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A Celebration of Brendon's life will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018, from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at the Space Gallery, 538 Congress Street, Portland, Maine.
