Gorham- Brenda J. Durant, 63, of Leaha Lane died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 6, 2021 of natural causes.
Brenda was born in Portland, Maine on September 19, 1957 the daughter of the late Philip W. and Annette E. (Lloyd) Rowe. She attended local schools and graduated from Portland High School in the class of 1975.
On August 25, 1976, Brenda married the love of her life Lawrence E. Durant Sr. together sharing almost forty years of marriage.
Being a very dedicated and hard working woman, Brenda worked many jobs over her life. Her last job was with Maine Medical Center where she worked as a dispatcher retiring in 2020 with more than twenty years of service. During her career at Maine Medical Center, Brenda received several awards for outstanding service and her dedication and reliability.
Brenda was never one to sit idle, she was always busy doing something, be it cleaning the house, taking on a project in the yard, knitting, spending time with her dog Chucky, family barbecue's or watching her favorite crime show. Her greatest love was the time she spent surrounded by her family especially her grandchildren. Brenda will long be remembered as a wonderful, caring, kind, hardworking person.
Brenda was predeceased by a sister, Mary Ponziak. She is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence E. Durant Sr. of Gorham; two daughters Christine and her husband Larry Jefferson of Westbrook, Rosalyn Durant of Auburn; three sons, Lawrence Jr. and his wife Kathy Durant of Windham, Aaron Durant of Portland, Brian Durant of WA; a brother, Philip Rowe of Portland; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours celebrating Brenda's life will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland, ME. A funeral service will be held at the chapel on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 1:00pm, burial will be in the spring.
