Bradford J. Brusso

Bradford J. "Brad" Brusso, 69, of Sanford, died at this home, surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 28, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.Brad was born Salem, Massachusetts on August 17, 1942 to Joseph and Emma (Boucher) Brusso where he grew up and attended local schools. He was a 1959 graduate of Salem High School. Following high school Brad enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served six years as a military police officer. He was stationed for three years in Germany. In 1965 he married Jeanne Sicotte and together they raised two children.Brad was a very civic minded person, volunteering his time at many organizations in the community including the SSYAA, York County Shelter and York County Community Action. He had been a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church and had taken his Cursillo at St. Paul's Retreat House in Augusta. Brad enjoyed watching baseball and football, playing golf and watching Star Trek. When his daughters were young he coached their basketball team and was also a former A.S.A. umpire. Brad was a very outgoing man and had many friends. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband and father and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Brad was predeceased by two sisters, Carol Kenney Mead and Marilyn Sheldon.Surviving are his wife 47 years, Jeanne Brusso of Sanford; two daughters, Sherry Brusso of Sanford and Christina Brusso of Sanford; three grandchildren, Jessica Brusso of Sanford, Brett Brusso of Sanford and Piper-Jean Brusso of Sanford; a great-granddaughter, Riley Brusso of Sanford; a special brother, Paul Sicotte of Sanford, seven siblings, Joyce Merritt and her husband George of Danvers, Massachusetts, David and his wife Claudia of Hampton, New Hampshire, Donna Boudrot of Danvers, Massachusetts, Gordon of Wellington, Florida, Robert and his wife Linda of Wellington, Florida, Kathy Drabkowski and her husband Ted of Hollywood Florida and Rodney and his wife Carol of Raleigh, North Carolina; close friend, Joe DelDuca of Sanford and many nieces, nephews and cousins.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 1st from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A funeral service with full military honors will take place at the funeral home at 1:00 PM.
