Boyce F. Norton, 76, of Limerick, died on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough surrounded by loved ones. Boyce was born in Portland on August 26, 1939 to William and Eva (Garneau) Norton. He grew up in Limerick where he attended local schools, graduating from Limerick High School in 1957. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Puerto Rico. After completing his enlistment he returned to Maine and held several jobs before eventually taking over the family garage which he owned and operated until his retirement. During this time he earned several Gates Mystery Car Awards for exceptional service. Boyce enjoyed spending time outdoors on the family farm. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, bowling and a friendly game of poker or cribbage. He was a proud member of the Biggest Bucks in Maine Club (1957). He was a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Matthew's Parish in Limerick. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and was very active and well known within the Limerick community. Boyce was a social and friendly man who enjoyed visits from his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Boyce was predeceased by a granddaughter, Lynda Norton and by a sister, Lorraine Wedgewood. Surviving are four children, Frank Norton and his wife Marie of Sanford, Michael Norton of Limerick, Karen Grant and her husband Kurtis of Kennebunk and Tina Norton of Limerick; six grandchildren, Gary Norton of Sanford, Trisha Norton of Gray, Michelle Norton of Gray, Brittney Norton of Liberia, Boyce Leavitt of Norwell, Massachusetts and Peter Leavitt of Norwell, Massachusetts; four great-grandchildren, Andrew, Savannah, Orren and Gideon and two siblings, Lynette Allaire of Limerick and his twin sister, Joyce Provencher of Limerick and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, May 23rd at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 24th at St. Matthew's Parish located on Dora Lane in Limerick. The family would like to express their gratitude to Boyce's caretakers and especially to Kim Andrews for the care and compassion shown to Boyce over the last 20 years. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to the Maine Veterans Home Activities Fund, 290 US Route One, Scarborough, Maine 04074. Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
