SPRINGVALE—Bonnie A. Bernier, 81, of Springvale, died peacefully on Sunday March 9, 2025 in North Berwick.

Bonnie was born April 25, 1943 in Sanford, the daughter of Wayne and Thelma (Brook) Allbee. She grew up in Sanford and was a graduate of Sanford High School.

Bonnie married Peter Bernier in 1964, sharing 61 happy years with him. They were best friends who enjoyed nothing more than the company of one another. A favorite pastime was taking long car rides, whether riding up the coast, taking a day trip to the mountains, or visiting Bonnie’s sister in Vermont, they perfected the tradition of ‘taking the long way home’ from even the shortest of destinations. Bonnie was a homemaker most of her life, caring for her children and those of her family and friends. When she wasn’t caring for her family, Bonnie enjoyed reading, doing crosswords and collecting dolls.

Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, losing her mother when she was just a young girl. She was also predeceased by an infant daughter; her brother, Richard Allbee; brother-in-law Marshall “Bookie” Bernier; and a nephew Richard Allbee Jr.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Peter; her three children, Donna Bernier, Debra Bernier (wife Mary Morissette), and Kevin Bernier; her two grandchildren, Gabrielle Boivin (partner Andrew Mitchell), and Avery Morissette; and her great-granddaughter, Raena Mitchell. She is also survived by her sister, Theda Farmer (husband Denny); sister-in-law Carolyn Bernier; and several nieces and nephews.
Bonnie had a gentle presence and a kind soul, always offering a warm smile and a wise crack, followed by her infectious giggle. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

A time of sharing and visitation will take place Friday March 21 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Black, Heald and Walker Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine.
