Blaine H. Jack, 90, of Sanford, died on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the Newton Center in Sanford following a brief illness.Blaine was born in Forest Glen, Maryland on June 3, 1927 to Harold and Barbara (Shaw) Jack. He grew up in Richmond, Maine where he attended local schools. While still in high school, Blaine enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served during World War II. After completing his enlistment he returned to school and graduated from Thomaston High School. Following graduation he attended Husson College and then the University of Maine at Orono where he earned his Master's Degree in education. In 1951 he married Lois Hastings and together they raised three children and shared 66 years of marriage. Blaine taught for several years in Union and Belfast before accepting a position at Sanford High School where he taught for many years before retiring in 1982.Throughout his life Blaine was very involved in youth athletics in the Sanford-Springvale area and in 2011 was the proud recipient of the Maine Athletic Administrators Distinguished Service Award for his dedication over the years. He was the Sanford league supervisor as well as the District 1 commissioner for the Babe Ruth Baseball League. He served as the official scorer the Sanford High School baseball team and the boys and girls varsity basketball teams and also coached several Little League and Babe Ruth League baseball teams over the years. Family was always first and foremost in Blaine's life. He loved going to family functions and spending time with them, especially attending his grandchildren's various activities and sporting events. Blaine will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be dearly missed.Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Lois Jack of Sanford; three children, Lucinda Jack, Anthony Jack and his wife Karen and Amy Jack, all of Sanford; two grandchildren, Kaelin and Blaine Jack of Sanford and a sister, Martha Robinson of Lewiston. Visitation and a luncheon will be held from 11:00 to 2:00 on Saturday, March 3rd at Above and Beyond Catering at the Sanford Town Club located on the fourth floor of the Sanford Trust Building at the corner of Washington Street and Main Street in Sanford.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider making a memorial contribution in Blaine's memory to the Sanford High School Athletic Boosters. Checks may be made out to the Sanford Red and White Foundation and mailed to P.O.
