Bertha J. Bishop
Bertha J. Bishop, 80, of Lyman, died at home on May 31 surrounded by her family.She was born in Rochester, NH on July 4, 1938 the daughter of Scott and Blanche (Grenier) Weare.Bertha was a very religious person. She was a longtime communicant of Notre Dame Church in Springvale where she was active in the Youth Ministry for many years, was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and a member of the Carmelite religious order. She had an enormous love for her Lord Jesus and a special devotion to the Virgin Mary.Bertha was employed for 25 years with Sprague Electric in Sanford. One of her special favorite places was Moosehead Lake.She was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra LaRose in 1981.Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Barry Bishop of Lyman, a son, Michael LaRose and his wife Donna of Sanford, daughter Mary Anne Martin and her husband James of Sanford, daughter Debra Tibbetts and her husband Timothy of Sanford, stepdaughter Brenda Bishop of Columbia, SC, stepson Brian Bishop and his wife Rita of Greensboro, NC, stepson Brice Bishop and his wife Diane of Sanford, sister, Jacqueline Hemenway of Antrim, NH, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 cousins, 3 nieces and a nephew.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church, 10 Payne Street, Springvale. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Springvale. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a local charity of one's choice.
