Bernice Sprague

Bernice M. Sprague, 97, of Sanford, died on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.Mrs. was born on July 27, 1912 in Effingham, New Hampshire where she grew up and attended local schools. When she was a young woman she married Robert H. Sprague and together they raised five children.In 1941 Mrs. Sprague and her family moved to Sanford and she began working in the Sanford shoe shops where she was employed for many years.Mrs. Sprague enjoyed sewing, crocheting and flower gardening. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Mrs. Sprague was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Robert H. Sprague and by a daughter, Muriel Trafton.Surviving are two daughters, Louise Bouchard of Sanford and Lois Hayford of Sanford; two sons, Robert C. Sprague of Lyman and Ralph Sprague and his wife Irene of Sanford; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 23rd at Oakdale Cemetery located on Twombley Road in Sanford.Arrangements are under the direction of Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home in Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
