Bernice M. Nutter, 83, of Sanford, died at her home on Saturday, April 28, 2012.Bernice was born in Biddeford on November 26, 1928 to Arthur and Agnes (Hutchins) Noble. She grew up in Kennebunkport where she attended local schools, graduating from Kennebunk High School. She was married to Ernest A. Nutter with whom she raised three children. Together they started their own business, Nutter Refrigeration and Electrical, which they owned and operated for over thirty years.Bernice enjoyed spending her summers at her cottage on Bunganut Lake. During the winter she and her husband enjoyed riding their snowmobiles and as they got older, spending winters in Florida where they enjoyed boating. Bernice loved spending time with her family and for many years hosted annual family reunions on Bunganut Lake. She was a devoted grandmother and always made it a point to attend her grandchildren's activities and sporting events. She also enjoyed taking them fishing. When Bernice was younger she was very active in helping to raise money for the March of Dimes. She was a former member of the Emblem Club and The Wells Trailblazers Club and was an active member of TOPS and the Red Hat Society. Bernice was a fun loving woman who lived life to the fullest right up until the time of her death. She will be remembered as a loving woman who was devoted to her family and will be dearly missed.Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Ernest A. Nutter; a daughter, Karen J. Nutter and by two siblings, Dwight Noble and Virginia Phillips.Surviving are two daughters, Judith L. Ward of Yakima, Washington and Sandra Bisson and her husband Marc of Sanford; six grandchildren, Amanda S. Ward of New York, Isaac E. Ward of Yakima, Washington, Jennifer M. Levesque of Springvale, Heather A. Baron of Springvale, Heath Bisson of Alfred and Lori-Ann Hensley of Hubert, North Carolina; 11 great grandchildren, Andrew, Kathleen, Dylan, Vanessa, Valerie, Brody, Briar, Maxwell, Parker, Tres and Zoey and four siblings, Dorothy Cole of Kennebunk, June Brown of Kennebunk, Betty Hamlyn of Wells and Arthur Noble of Sanford.Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider either the American Lung Association, 122 State Street, Augusta, ME 04330, or the March of Dimes, 60 Gray Road, #8, Falmouth, ME 04105.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
