Bernadine L. Dunnells, 99, known to her friends as "Bunny", of Shapleigh, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford, surrounded by her family.Bernadine was born in Chicopee Village in the Town of Buxton on January 12, 1913 to Edward and Gladys (Anderson) Ridley. She grew up in Emery Mills (Shapleigh) and attended local schools. She held several jobs during her life and worked for many years at Sprague Electric where she was employed until she retired. Bernadine was a loving, devoted mother, raising seven children. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, puzzles and playing cards. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, taking bus trips to different areas of the country. She also enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her daughters Joy & Norma, which she was able to do up until the age of 97. In 2010, she was the recipient of the Boston Post Cane as Shapleigh's oldest resident. Bernadine had a sweet tooth and always looked forward to the many treats brought to her by friends and family. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman with a wonderful sense of humor and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Bernadine was predeceased by her husband, George L. Dunnells and two children, Edith Gove and Ted Webber and one grandchild.Surviving are five children, Norma Evans of Florida, Fred Webber of Shapleigh, Frances Eppich of Florida, Joy Clark and her husband Paul of Florida and Clifton Dunnells and his wife Debra of Shapleigh; 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, February 10th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 11th.
