Benjamin E. Willard, 23, died on June 11, 2016 at his home after a long and courageous battle with illness.He was born on November 10, 1992 to Arthur and Karen (Fisk) Willard, in Sanford, where he grew up and attended local schools. He graduated from Sanford High School in 2011. He graduated 35th of his class and was on the yearbook committee.He had great love for animals, and volunteered at the Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk. He especially loved his Dachshund Charlie and his cat Smokey, who gave him great comfort at the end of his life. Benjamin loved family gatherings, including celebrating the 4th of July. He also loved technology. Always looking for the newest phone or tablet, he liked to surf the internet and was always "in the know" when it came to what was going on in the news. He loved video games and watching his favorite television shows. His favorite color was orange, and he had a favorite quote which was; "There are no short cuts to any place worth going."-Beverly Sills.Survivors include his parents, a grandmother, Dolores Willard, two aunts, Lisa Fetter of Rochester, Jean Willard of Scarborough, two uncles, Donald Willard and his wife Megan of Raymond, and John Willard, and cousins, Marah Bohn, who was like a sister, her husband Philip and their son Connor, Holden, Katie, and Rachel. Also his special friend and nurse Taylor Dowler, who became like family.Benjamin is predeceased by his Grammy, Lyla Fisk, grandfather, Donald Willard, great grandmother Jessie Gustin, an uncle Michael Fisk and uncle Mark Fetter.Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 14, at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, in Springvale, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 15, at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. followed by a burial at New North Side Cemetery, Garland Road, Nottingham, NH.
