Beatrice Mary (Charette) LongSANFORD - Beatrice "Bea" (Charette) Long of Sanford, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at the age of 80.Born on February 12, 1940, in Sanford, Maine, Bea was the daughter of the late Edville and Alice (Theriault) Charette of Sanford, Maine.Bea graduated from Sanford High School in 1958 and later graduated from Hartnell College in Salinas, California. She married Michael Long, Jr. of North Quincy, MA in 1964, and together they raised four children. Over the years they lived in New York, Virginia, New Hampshire, and Maine.Bea dedicated her life to helping those in need and touched the lives of so many. She and her family took in several individuals who needed a safe and supportive place to live over the years. She visited those who often didn't receive visitors in local nursing homes and supported many individuals at the end of their lives. She was an active participant in prayer groups, prayer lines and bible study groups. Bea was a beloved employee and house manager with Waban Projects in Sanford prior to her retirement. She saw the good in every individual and loved to make people laugh. She will be missed by so many who knew and loved her. She is survived by two sons, Stephen M. Long and partner Sue Herson of Hampton Falls, NH, and David J. Long and daughter-in-law Eileen Lisk of Worcester, MA, two daughters, Kathleen (Long) Gatzogiannis and son-in-law Foto Gatzogiannis of Wells, Michelle Long and son-in law Paul Hansen of Portsmouth, NH; six grandchildren, Demitrios, Alec, and Zoe Gatzogiannis of Wells, Rowan Long of Gulfport, FL., and Nuala and Oskar Hansen of Portsmouth, NH; a sister, Elizabeth (Charette) McGlincey; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Long and her brother, John Charette of Alfred.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 12th at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave., in Sanford.
