Beatrice Cochin, 89, of Sanford, died April 2 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford following a long illness.She was born in Sanford on April 12, 1915, a daughter of Edmond and Cedulie (Grenier) Prince, had attended the former Holy Family School, and was a lifelong resident.She had been employed over the years with the former Goodall-Sanford Textile Mills and with the former Allied Novelty Shoe Corp. in Springvale.She was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church and a member of the Daughters of Isabella.She was active in the Girl Scouts as a leader and camp counselor. Family members fondly recalled how variously talented she was. Musically inclined, she was an accomplished pianist, had formerly sung in the church choir, and enjoyed dancing. Talented around the house, she enjoyed gardening, landscaping, decorating, cooking and even building projects. A talented seamstress, she was also fond of the outdoors, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.Her husband, John Cochin, Sr., died in 1979.Survivors include 2 sons, John Cochin, Jr. of Springvale, James Cochin of Jamaica Plain, MA, a daughter, Joyce Scalley of Sanford, a brother Edward Grenier of Gonic, NH, a sister, Margaret Yerham of Acton, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM in St. Ignatius Church in Sanford. Burial will be later in the spring in Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 163 Lancaster Street Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101.
