Barbara Ann Worster, 52, of Shapleigh, Maine passed away on November 30, 2009 at her vacation home in Cape Coral, Florida following a 6-year battle with ovarian cancer. Barbara was born in Bay Shore, Long Island, New York on March 1, 1957, moving to Maine with her family in 1971 and graduated from Massabesic High School. She was an active real estate broker in the Sanford area for over 25 years. In 2000, Barbara and her husband Tom opened Real Estate 2000 Maine/New Hampshire in Shapleigh. She was well known and respected by her clients who kept coming back to her time and time again. She always put other's interests before her own.In 2001, Barbara and her husband Tom moved into their new home on Owls Nest Road in Shapleigh, where Barbara spent many hours watching the wild life and her Golden Retrievers, Hannah & Jessie romp through the fields surrounding her home. Barbara watched her three sons, Matthew, Andrew, and Devin grow up, and could never resist giving them advice to help them get along in the world.Barbara loved to travel and visited Mexico and many Caribbean Islands with St. Bart's being her most memorable. Purchasing a home in Cape Coral was the next best thing to being in the tropics. It was there she enjoyed sharing the tropic feel she loved with family & friends. Barbara enjoyed cooking, gardening, exercising, reading, and more recently had become a Red Sox fan. Barbara should be remembered for her tremendous courage with her disease. She became her own advocate and never gave up hope, spending countless hours on line researching for the newest and best treatments available.Barbara was pre-deceased by her father Roy Garvin. She is survived by her husband of nearly 20 years, Tom, her mother Ellen Nelson, of Sanford, her mother and father in-law Philip and Jean Worster of Acton, her sons Matthew and his fiancee Sarah of Portland, Andrew of Shapleigh, and Devin of Acton, her brother Michael Garvin and wife Leasa of Eastport, her brother Ralf of Sanford, brother & sister in-law Philip & Linda Worster of Saco, many cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and her Real Estate 2000 family.
