Barbara B. Roberts

Barbara Blaisdell Roberts, age 88, died in her home on Tuesday, June 11, 2013.She was born December 13, 1924 in Sanford, to Warren D. and Lillian (Fox) Blaisdell. Barbara attended Sanford schools and graduated from Sanford High School in 1942.Following graduation from Nasson College in 1946, she taught at Kennett High School in Conway, New Hampshire for one year, Nasson College for six years, Sanford High School for 25 years, and Sanford Night School for 5 years. Barbara retired in 1984 and did volunteer work at Lincoln School and the Springvale Public Library.Barbara attended the First Baptist Church of Springvale and was a member of the SERECO club. She was also a member of the College Club.Barbara was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Winston Blaisdell.Barbara is survived by her daughter, Karen E. Ponsonby, and her husband John, of Wichita, Kansas; her son, Warren G. Roberts, and his wife, Susan, of Shapleigh; and her daughter, Susan M. Brown and her husband, Terrance of Springvale. Also surviving are her eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.A graveside service will be held on Saturday June 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Springvale, followed by a reception at the Springvale First Baptist Church on Main Street.During her lifetime, Barbara did so much for so many. She never wanted anything in return.
