Barbara E. Plowman

South Portland-Barbara E. Plowman, 88, formerly of Granby Road, passed away at South Portland Nursing Home on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Barbara was born in Boston, MA on May 12, 1926 the daughter of John B. and Della (Carson) Keily. As time passed the family moved to Portland, Maine where Barbara grew up. Her freshman year of high school she attended Scarborough High School where she met Jim Plowman. They married in 1945 and later had three children. She worked most of her married life, to name a few places, Portland Drive In for 13 years, Mammoth Mart for 13 years and Holiday Inn, Riverside for 13 years. Barbara was a member of AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary, Post #7 Scarborough where she served as department president from 1974 to 1975. Barbara was predeceased by her husband James E. Plowman in 1982 and a son James Alan Plowman in 2011. She is survived by a daughter Deborah A. and her husband Peter Bernier of South Portland; a son Daniel T. and his wife Cheryl Plowman of Scarborough; four grandchildren Andrea, Angela, Shawn and Kristen; six great grandchildren Max, Coale, Brittany, Delany, Arianna and Ava. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 10:00am at the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Burial will follow in Brooklawn Cemetery, Congress Street, Portland, ME. Your mother was a joy to be with at our McDonald ‘morning coffee’ gatherings. She always had a ready smile. I love the picture you picked to remember her by, sitting in HER place at McDonald’s! That is the Barbara I knew and loved! She’s left a big hole in our group. So sorry for your loss.
