Barbara Frances Nisbet

Portland - Barbara F. Nisbet, 95, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House after a brief illness. Barbara was born on October 29, 1926 in Orono, the daughter of the late Nicholas J. and Josephine L. (Doherty) Hachey. Barbara attended local schools and graduated from Orono High School. Barbara worked as a babysitter, housekeeper at the Ramada Inn and as a fabric tailor. Some of her favorite things to do were watching sunset, going out for a nice meal, and attending the Saturday Mass at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Herbert C. Nisbet in 1997; daughter, Kimberly Peppard; sisters, Elizabeth Smith and Madeline Hachey; grandsons, Christian and Keith Larsen. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Peppard of NC and Frances Brown of Portland; step son, William Nisbet; step daughter, Lynn Kandiko and husband Blaise of Madison; step son, Gregory Nisbet and wife Meg of Portland; granddaughter, Kerry Ann Zafiropoulo of California; three step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. A graveside service will be held at 2:30PM on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery, Stevens Ave, Portland.
